Zyloprim - Reducing Uric Acid Production
Zyloprim (generic name Allopurinol) is used in the treatment of many symptoms of gout, including acute attacks, tophi (collection of uric acid crystals in the tissues, especially around joints), joint destruction, and uric acid stones. Gout is a form of arthritis characterized by increased blood levels of uric acid. Zyloprim works by reducing uric acid production in the body, thus preventing crystals from forming.

Drug Uses

Zyloprim is a medicine which reduces the production of uric acid. It is used in the treatment of gout, increased levels of uric acid caused by cancer treatment, and kidney stones that are caused by high levels of uric acid.

How Taken

Zyloprim is in the form of a tablet and should be taken orally. It is commonly taken once every day after a meal. You should drink at least 8 glasses of water or other fluids every day during the treatment with Zyloprim. If you have any of the following less serious side effects, continue using Zyloprim but inform your doctor: upset stomach or diarrhea; headache, dizziness, or drowsiness; or an acute attack of gouty arthritis. Storage

Keep Zyloprim at a temperature of 15-25�C (59-77�F), away from moisture and light.
