Propecia is a drug used to treat hair loss in males on the vertex and the anterior mid-scalp area (the top of the head and the middle front of the head).This is a medicine for men only and should not be used by women and children.
How Taken
Propecia is in the form of a tablet and the common dose is one pill a day, with or without food. You should take the medicine exactly as directed; do not take less or more pill and do no take it more often that your doctor told you. Do not stop the intake of Propecia even if you feel well. Consult your doctor before you stop using the medication.
Warnings/Precautions
Consult your doctor before using Propecia if you have liver disease. You may not be able to use Remeron or your dose may have to be adjusted, or you may have to be monitored regularly during the treatment. Propecia is for men only and it should not be taken by women. Do not use or handle to medicine if you are pregnant. Propecia falls into the FDA pregnancy category X which means it is known to cause defects to a fetus. Pregnant women should not handle crushed or broken tablets because the medicine may be absorbed through the skin. Propecia causes defects in developing male babies. Pregnant women should avoid exposure to tablets though whole tablets are not expected to be harmful if they are not swallowed. Do not use Propecia if you are breast feeding because it is not known if the medicine passes into breast milk. Propecia should not be used by women.
Missed Dose
In case you miss a dose, take the drug as soon as you remember. If it is already time for your next dose, skip the missed one and take the scheduled one. Do no take a double dose of Propecia.
Possible Side Effects
Contact your doctor immediately and stop taking Propecia if you develop any of these side effects: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives).
If you have any of the following less serious side effects, continue using Propecia but inform your doctor:
-decreased libido (sex drive);
-decreased volume of ejaculate;
-impotence (trouble getting or keeping an erection); or
-breast tenderness or enlargement.
Other different side effects that are not listed here may also occur. If you notice some unusual effects or conditions, inform your doctor about them.
Storage
Propecia should be kept at a temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) in a tightly closed container, away from moisture.
Overdose
If you suspect an overdose, immediately search for medical help. The symptoms of an overdose of Propecia are not known.
