Drug Uses
Paxil falls into the group of antidepressant medications known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). One of the reasons for the occurrence of depressions and anxiety disorders is a chemical imbalance in the brain. Among these chemicals is serotonin which stimulates the passing of electrical signals between the nerve cells. While these signals are sent, serotonin is released by the nerve cell that sends the signal and travels to the cell that receives the signal. There, serotonin is absorbed by the cell or is returned to the original sender cell.
How Taken
Paxil is in the form of pills and is taken orally. The usual dosage is one tablet a day, with or without food. Follow the instructions given by your doctor; do not use more or less pills.
