Drug Uses
Nasonex is a nasal spray treating allergic conditions of seasonal and year-round type. Nasonex relieves itchy, runny noses, sternutation and nasal obstruction caused by dust mites, animal dander and trees and grass pollen. Nasonex contains corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory action. The Corticosteroids exercise different effects on a variety of cell types.
How Taken
Concuss Nasonex before usage. Be sure to prime the spray pump as advised by your pharmacist. If nothing else is prescribed to you the medication is generally applied once two sprays in a nostril a day. Do not exceed the dosage over the prescribed one. Apply Nasonex at regular intervals during the advised period for better effect. If the drug is applied for relieving seasonal allergies, the recommended period for starting the therapy is 2-4 weeks before the beginning of the very season. Usually symptoms mitigate within 2 days and an improvement is reached in 7-14 days of application.
Warnings/Precautions
Prior to Nasonex application, inform your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any viral, bacterial, or fungal infection. The medicine's intake can reduce the strength of your immune system. You may not be prescribed Nasonex if any kind of infection bothers your body. Prior to Nasonex usage, inform your doctor if you complain of a nasal septum ulcer, recently have been subjected to nose surgery or you have any nasal disorder. Nasonex may not be appropriate for your condition or you may need an individual schedule adjusting or special observance during treatment. Nasonex falls in category C of the FDA pregnancy meaning it's unknown whether the medication can harm a fetus. Do not apply Nasonex without prior consultation with your doctor in case of pregnancy. Nasonex is not tested for passing into mother's milk. Make sure your doctor knows if you are nursing. Children under 3 should not accept Nasonex.
Missed Dose
If you let a dose of Nasonex pass, take it at once. But if the time for the next dose approaches, miss the dose and move on with your regular scheme. Never accept two doses simultaneously.
Possible Side Effects
Migraine or sore throat might appear. If these go on or aggravate, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Rarely, but report quickly: sight alterations, unusual bleeding from the nose or irritation/ache, blood-colored mucus/phlegm, excessive thirst or urination, nausea, feebleness, slimming. It is uncommon, but if you happen to establish an allergic reaction to the medication, ask for emergency medical help. The allergic symptoms can include: eruption, itching, bloating, daze, difficult breathing. If you register other effects not mentioned above, call your doctor or pharmacist.
Storage
25°C (77°F) is the recommended temperature for storage of the medication; however deviations in the range of 15-30°C (59-86°F) are permitted. Keep in dark premises. In cases of Nasonex replacing from its container, it should be observed that the medication stays away from direct light. Brief exposing to light during usual application is not a problem.
Overdose
It is unlikely that Nasonex is used excessively. If in any case you suspect overdosing, ask for an emergency help or contact a poison control centre.
More Information
The patient should stay away from allergens if they worsen his/her symptoms. Cleanse dusty areas or pet fur around you to protect from symptoms aggravation. Protect yourself from exposure to infections. Avoid physical contact with people suffering from chicken pox, measles, or any other infectious conditions. Your immune system may be too weakened to combat such attacks during your treatment with Nasonex.
