Imitrex is a medicine used for the treatment of migraine headaches.

How Drug Works
Imitrex is targeted on the blood vessels and the nerves which cause the migraine headaches.

How Taken
You should take a dose of Imitrex when the migraine symptoms occur. In some cases you may take a double dose but you should not exceed 200 mg a day.

Possible Side Effects
You may experience the following side effects if you are using Imitrex: dizziness, nausea, fatigue, drowsiness.

Warnings/Precautions
Do not take Imitrex if you suffer from any of these conditions: allergy to Imitrex, Raynaud syndrome, strokes in the past, certain types of heart disease, transient ischemic attacks, uncontrolled blood pressure, peripheral vascular disease. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine in case you smoke, have high cholesterole or high blood pressure, diabetes.

Overdose
If you have an overdose of Imitrex, immediately search for medical help.

Drug Interactions
Consult your doctor before taking Imitrex in case you take any headache medication, ergotamine or MAO inhibitors such as linezolid, furazolidone, tranylcypromine, phenelzine, selegiline.

Missed Dose
You cannot miss a dose because Imitrex is taken only when there is a migraine attack.

Storage
Imitrex should be stored in its original container, at a normal temperature, away from heat and moisture. Keep away from children.

Pregnancy/Nursing
Consult your doctor before using Imitrex in case you are pregnant.
