Drug Uses
Flextra DS is an analgesic and antipyretic used for the treatment of pain, headache and fever. It may also be used in cases of some arthritic conditions. The medicine is also used for the treatment of other medical conditions.
How Taken
The dosage depends on your age, medical condition and your reaction to the treatment. The usual dose is a pill every four hours. Flextra DS is taken orally; do not take more pills than instructed and do not use the medicine longer than prescribed (10 days for adults, 5 days for children and 3 days if you use it to treat fever). If the pain or fever persists, your medical condition may be more serious. Ask your doctor for more information.
Warnings/Precautions
Inform your doctor if you have had lung problems (e.g. bronchitis, emphysema), glaucoma, enlarged prostate or any allergies. Flextra DS may cause dizziness or drowsiness, so you should be very cautious when driving, operating machinery or perform other dangerous activities. Avoid alcohol or limit its consummation because the combined daily usage of Flextra DS and alcohol enhances the risk of liver damage signaled by nausea, stomach pain and dark urine. Be cautious if you give the medicine to children because they may be more sensitive to it. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or if you are breast feeding because it is not clear if Flextra DS passes into breast milk.
Missed Dose
In case you miss a dose, take the drug as soon as you remember. If it is already time for your next dose, skip the missed one and take the scheduled one. Do no take a double dose of Flextra DS unless it is prescribed by your doctor.
Possible Side Effects
You may experience drowsiness or nausea. Inform your doctor if the side effects worsen. Consult your doctor immediately if any of the following serious side effects occur: skin redness, swelling, persistent fever, stomach pain, yellowing eyes and skin, dark urine, unusual weakness. If you notice some unusual effects or conditions, inform your doctor about them.
Storage
Keep Flextra DS at a room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C), away from light and moisture.
Overdose
If you suspect an overdose, immediately search medical help. An overdose of Flextra DS may be signaled by: difficulty breathing, extreme nervousness or restlessness, flushed skin, hallucination, racing or irregular heartbeat, seizure, shortness of breath, tiredness (extreme), unstable temperature, unusual muscle stiffness, vomiting (in combination with these other symptoms).
More Information
Be very cautious and alert when driving, operating machines or performing other dangerous activities. Consult your doctor before taking other medicines, especially medicines that contain acetaminophen. Ask your doctor if you have to increase your dosage of Flextra DS in case you consume three or more alcoholic drinks a day. The combined daily usage of Flextra DS and alcohol enhances the risk of liver damage.
