Drug Uses
Colchicine is a medicine used for treatment of gout.
How Taken
Colchicine should be taken with a glass of water. It may be taken once an hour until the pain disappears, until the prescribed amount finishes, or until you experience nausea, vomiting or diarrhea. You may use the drug every day or several days in the week to avoid the occurrence of new attacks. Never take more of the medicine than prescribed.
Warnings/Precautions
Consult your doctor before using Colchicine in case you are breast feeding and in case you are pregnant or plan to get pregnant during the treatment with the drug because it may harm a fetus.
Missed Dose
In case you miss a dose, take the drug as soon as you remember. If it's already time for your next dose, skip the missed one and take the scheduled one. Do no take a double dose of Colchicine.
Possible Side Effects
Colchicine may cause some of the following side effects: difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; fever; rash; numbness or tingling.
Storage
Colchicine should be kept at a room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep it away from children.
Overdose
An overdose may cause the following symptoms: vomiting; stomach pain; diarrhea; muscle weakness; burning in your throat, stomach, or skin; difficulty breathing; delirium; and seizures. Colchicine overdose may cause death. If you have taken an overdose or suspect an overdose, immediately search for medical help.
