Drug Uses

Clarinex is an antihistamine mitigating hay fever symptoms (seasonal allergic rhinitis). Clarinex comprises of a long-acting tricyclic histamine antagonist with selective H1-receptor histamine antagonist.

How Taken

Clarinex is an oral medicine absorbed in the body without dependence on food intake and is usually prescribed for one reception a day. Follow the instructions on your prescription label cautiously and ask your doctor or pharmacist if something isn't clear to you. Take Clarinex strictly as instructed. Do not accept more or less of it or frequent the usage prescribed.

Warnings/Precautions

Make sure your doctor knows of any allergy against antihistamine or kidney, liver malaise, before accepting Clarinex. In such cases Clarinex may not be prescribed to you, it may be adjusted to your special case or may require additional medical supervision if you experience any of the conditions listed. Clarinex is in category C of FDA pregnancy meaning it's unclear if it can harm a fetus. Always consult with your doctor before intake if you are pregnant or expect to become so during treatment. Clarinex penetrates into mother's milk and may affect a suckling. Take Clarinex always with prior consultation with your doctor in case you nurse a baby.

Missed Dose

If you omit a dose, take it immediately. But if the next dose's time approaches, let it pass and continue according to your established scheme. The doubling of doses is not approved.

Possible Side Effects

Side effects aren't to be expected. If any manifest or intensify, go to your doctor as soon as possible. Only a doctor can define if it is acceptable for you to continue Clarinex intake. Most occurring side effects may be: dry mouth, tiredness, drowsiness, sore throat. Less occurring side effects may be: daze, dry throat, symptoms of cold, muscle pain, nausea. Nearly uncommon are: acute reaction of allergic type, hives, itching, palpitations, eruption, problems with breathing, bloating.

Storage

Store at normal temperature. Keep away from heat. The container of the medication should be properly closed and the medicine should be kept only in it. Put the preparation out of children's reach.

Overdose

It is almost unknown what are the consequences of Clarinex overdose. In any case be aware that any excessive intake of whatever medicine can bring serious problems to the patient. If there is any doubt of overdosing, ask for emergency help. The symptoms of Clarinex overdose may be: palpitations, drowsiness.
