Drug Uses
Carisoprodol is a medicine used to treat and relieve pain and stiffness of muscle spasms and discomfort caused by strain and sprain.
How Taken
Carisoprodol is a tablet that is taken orally. The common dose for adults is one tablet of 350 mg that is taken three times a day before you go to bed. Children younger than 12 years of age should not use the medicine. Carisoprodol should be taken with food or milk in order to avoid stomach problems.
Warnings/Precautions
You should not use Carisoprodol if you have acute intermittent porphyria. Inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease. Your dose may have to be lowered, or you may have to be monitored regularly during the treatment. Consult your doctor before using Carisoprodol if you are pregnant because it is not known if the medicine is harmful for a fetus. It is also not clear if the drug passes into breast milk. Do not use it before a consultation with a doctor if you are breast feeding. Carisoprodol should not be used by children younger than 12 years old.
Missed Dose
In case you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but only if this is within one hour. Otherwise, skip the missed dose and continue your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose.
Possible Side Effects
Carisoprodol may cause the following side effects: dizziness, vertigo, ataxia, tremor, agitation, irritability, headache, depressive reactions, syncope, and insomnia. Ypu may develop allergic or idiosyncratic reactions. Patients have reported skin rash, erythema multiforme, pruritus, eosinophilia, and fixed drug eruption with cross reaction to meprobamate during the usage of Carisoprodol. Asthmatic episodes, fever, weakness, dizziness, angioneurotic edema, smarting eyes, hypotension, and anaphylactoid shock may also occur.
Storage
Keep the medicine at a controlled room temperature of 15°-30°C (59°-86°F) in a tightly closed container.
Overdose
If you suspect an overdose of Carisoprodol, immediately search for medical help. An overdose may be signaled by low blood pressure (weakness, fainting, confusion), decreased breathing, and unconsciousness

Carisoprodol may cause dizziness or drowsiness, and if you experience these effects, avoid performing the above-mentioned activities.
