Drug Uses

Atarax is a medicine used to treat anxiety and tension associated with psychoneurosis and as an adjunct in organic disease states with manifested anxiety.

How Taken

The dosage for adults is 50-100 mg daily; the dosage for children under 6 years is 50 mg daily in separate doses, and the dosage for children over 6 years is 50-100 mg daily in separate doses.

Warnings/Precautions

It is not clear if Atarax passes into breast milk. Be cautious if you use the medicine during pregnancy.

Missed Dose

In case you miss a dose, take the drug as soon as you remember. If it is already time for your next dose, skip the missed one and take the scheduled one. Do no take a double dose.

Possible Side Effects

The side effects you may experience during a treatment with Atarax are commonly mild and disappear alone. They include dry mouth, drowsiness.

Storage

Atarax should be stored in a cool and dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep the medicine away from children.

Overdose

If you suspect an overdose, immediately search for medical help. An overdose is commonly indicated by hypersedation.

More Information

Be very cautious and alert when driving, operating machines or performing other dangerous activities because Atarax may cause dizziness or drowsiness
