Drug Uses
Allegra-D relieves symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis in adults and children of 12 years and above. The medicine can very well cope with symptoms like sneezing, rhinorrhea, itchy nose/palate/ and/or throat, itchy/watery/red eyes, and nasal congestion.
How Taken
The advisable dose of Allegra-D is one tablet twice a day for all ages except for children under 12. It is advised that Allegra-D should not be taken with food. One tablet a day is the advised dosage for a start with people experiencing decreased renal function.
Warnings/Precautions
Allegra-D shouldn't be taken if the patient has experienced a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) in the last 14 days; asthma or similar diseases; diabetes; thyroid disorders; glaucoma or greater pressure in the eye; urinary retention or an enlarged prostate; kidney or liver malaises; or heart diseases, high blood pressure, or an irregular heartbeat. You may be unable to accept Allegra-D, or you may need a special dosage or monitoring during the course of treatment if you experience any of the states from the above. Allegra-D can be classified in category C of the FDA pregnancy meaning it is not studied if the medicine can harm a fetus. Do not start Allegra-D without consultation with your doctor in case of pregnancy or if there's a chance of such during the course of treatment. Also be careful with Allegra-D as it's not studied if it penetrates into mother's milk. For reasons of health protection, do not accept the medicine with prior consultation with your doctor if you breast-feed. Allegra-D should not be taken by children under 12.
Missed Dose
If you pass a dose, make sure you have it when you recall for it. If it approaches the time of the next intake, let through the omitted dose and go on with your regular scheme. The intake of two doses is not approved.
Possible Side Effects
Nausea, stomach disorders, problems with sleeping, migraine, or symptoms usual for colds may occur. If these persevere or aggravate, inform your doctor soon. The following symptoms are rare and should be reported quickly: daze, instable moods, quick heartbeat, fever. Make sure your doctor is informed at once if any of these rare and serious side effects manifest: syncope, abnormal heartbeat. In spite that sleepiness is very rare to occur in case of proper dosage, be aware that if it manifests it may influence your concentration, so avoid performing tasks requiring it (for example: driving). If you spot any other side effects excluding the listed, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Storage
The medicine should be kept at 20-25 C in dark and dry place.
Overdose
If taking too much of the medicine, you may experience dizziness, migraine, nausea, intense perspiration, thirst, tachycardia, precordial pain, fastened heartbeats, painful urination, tense and weak muscles, anxiety and insomnia. You can experience a toxic psychosis accompanied by delusions and hallucinations or palpitation, circulatory disorder, convulsions, coma, and respiratory disorders.

Be careful if you are driving, working with machinery or perform other risky activities. Allegra-D may cause daze. If you come to feel dizzy, don't perform such activities. Allegra-D is not approved to be taken together with or closely before or after the intake of an antacid containing aluminum or magnesium. These two may lessen the effects of Allegra-D.
